A Study In Southsea is a non-fiction account of Arthur Conan Doyle’s Portsmouth years that traces how he came to be living in Southsea, how he started his surgery in Elm Grove, the people he met and some of the adventures he had while living here. It looks at his life as a brilliant networker and self-publicist, an energetic sportsman and a keen member of the life of the growing seaside resort that was spreading ever-eastward away from the dockyard.
